JUROR’S CHOICE AWARD,
SIDNEY FINE ART SHOW 2005

A piece of Canadian West Coast First Nations history and culture is captured in each of these uniquely handcrafted figures, created by a highly talented collaboration of local artists.

Each figure is an original piece of art, which has been sculptured from clay and cast in fine quality hand tinted porcelain by artist Leasa Robson. These figures boast hand sculpted and painted facial features, carefully selected glass eyes, natural hair, detailed porcelain torso and pose able porcelain limbs. Standing approximately 33” ( 84 cm) in height, each figure appears to come to life.

Each figure is adorned in authentic costuming, which is indigenous to only the Haida, Nuu-Chah-Nulth and Coast Salish First Nations people from the Queen Charlottes, the West and South East Coast of Vancouver Island in the province of British Columbia. The authentic regalia has been signed by the creating artists and identified with their cultural affiliation.

All figures are presented on a custom designed hand-chipped carved cedar base inlayed with a Sterling Silver Eagle medallion, by silver artist Nancy Dawson, and a Sterling Silver engraved plate. A hand-chipped, carved cedar collector’s book containing a letter of authenticity, artist biographies and cultural information is presented with each figure. Due to the rarity and uniqueness of each piece, these fine art pieces are only offered in exclusive investment limited editions.

A percentage from each fine art piece sold will be donated to the First Peoples' Cultural Foundation. This bursary program will support the continuation of the traditional arts and linguistics programs for the First People of Canada.
